>>37442366>What are your best experiencies with Gen 5?Reaching Castelia for the first time at night probably. Have been playing pokemon since Crystal without skipping anything: seeing GF actually trying to make you feel like you're in a real, huge city for the first time was a very memorable experience.
I remember when we were in the middle of hype season Castelia was one of the things that had everyone talking other than the massive dex leak, both by the magazines and the fans.
Personally, it didn't disappoint me.
I remember coming out of Pinwheel Forest (the best designed forest in the franchise so far) and seeing the city's outline in the distance. Crossing that fucking bridge with a ship passing under, and finally reaching the city. Holy shit it was beautiful at night. And way bigger than I expected.
In retrospective, nowadays I think it has a lot of filler where they could've packed a lot more interesting content. Things like the cool alley coffee that's only used for a Meloetta event is just lame. It's still one of my favorite locations though.
While the routes were uninteresting in general, they really outdid themselves making almost every town/city unique and memorable.
There's some other shit, like finding Volcarona, the snow at winter, the twist at the league, the sea tunnel, etc.
The music was also something that stood out for me, specially with the gym theme variations.
I also loved most of the dex, and a lot of my current favorites come from Unova.I think they succeeded making the gen feel fresh.
>Are you nostalgic yet?I'm not sure. I think the music does make me feel a bit "comfy", but I played this gen when I was already out of the "games you grew up with" phase, so I don't think they'll ever reach the levels of nostalgia gen2 and 3 make me feel.
They're in a weird spot for me. Like just in the "edge of nostalgia", so to speak.
