Yeah, grind for cash at the Pokemon League and buy your coins outright.

Slots are a waste of time. There is no "trick", you can't get 777 unless the slots decide you can. Even using save states, frame advance, etc. won't let you get 777 every time, because the game will just move the last reel one more space to fuck you.

just keep your eye on the 7s going by and keep notice of how long it takes to roll past. let it spin a few times and get into the rhythm of when the 7 shows up. then press A.
this only worked for me in FRLG though, in the other games it's harder to keep track of the spinning symbols or it seems more randomized.
i was winning this way too often for it to just be completely random.

Actually, yeah. You mash A over and over until the slots start to delay between hitting A and the slots stopping. That means it's allowing you to line up 777. The idea is to just mash A until the delays start, i maxed out my coin counter in Firered in like 20 minutes without fast forwards this way
