I am going to be honest as Emboar hater. I do not hate it solely because of its type. I hate it because I find it ugly and its second journey to the west inspired character right after Infernape.

I’m not really big on Infernape either if it makes you feel better.

This is my go-to bro for catching Pokemon. Spore and False Swipe are really useful.
In regular gameplay, Parasect's actually fairly competent since his Attack stat's pretty good.

What qualifies a 'Mon as popular to this thread? Besides the obvious choices i mean
Anyways Leavanny was always a concept and design i liked, plus an interesting choice whenever I make a B/W playthrough that needs a Grass or Bug member. Goes down like dry paper wearing cotton clothing when exposed to Fire, but shit you can't be perfect.

I use one every playthrough of gen 5 because it's so good at what it does
can be the team flier but it can also learn alot of good moves too with great stats too

They wanted a starter to represent China, and remembered about the inspiration they did for Infernape
On it’s own merits Emboar is an interesting pokemon
As a starter however, it brings nothing new to the table

Well, any pokemon that gets a lot of attention and overall positive reception in the series as a whole. Like Eevee and it's evolutions or Gardevoir.
