And since getting crystals specific to his team's typings, he don't use Normalium-Z with any of his 'mons. He's also replaced Rockium-Z for Lycanium-Z (just like he'd stopped using Normalium-Z with his pokémon after gaining crystals specific to their typings) because Splintered Stormshards is his shillmon's exclusive move. Pray, tell me, why would Rowlet get a second crystal when it's turned into Pidgeotto 2.0 and is not the Gen's shillmon?

Okay cool. That means there may be a point of accidental evolution after a rough battle or has Rowlet been pretty quick to pick it back up?

Also I think it's kinda lame and weird a Grass type has to use a Rock to use a Grass move.

They bring this up in the episode with different Pokemon using different things as ammo for Bullet Seed

Toucannon and Trumbeak (Rowlet's adoptive parents) swallow rocks as ammo to use Bullet Seed

Rowlet tried to do the same thing, found an Everstone, and learned Seed Bomb instead since it can't Bullet Seed

He swallows it straight back down anon. They gave him the Everstone for a reason dude (to keep Rowlet as a Rowlet because it sells a fuckload of merch), they won't turn around in a few weeks time and gpo "PSYCHE, have an evolved owl that no-one really likes compared to Borb".

They did it by explaining how it was always hanging around with a Toucannon and Trumbeak flock when they tried teaching it Bullet Seed. Since Rowlet can't learn it, they went with the bomb. It basically picked up the flock's habit of storing seeds and using it as ammo as the dex says the Pikipek line does.

I distinctly remember Sceptile in the anime having no issue using bullet seed, I haven't watched the anime since the gen 4 stuff. Did all of the writers get replaced by downies?

Sceptile is part plant and can produce its own seeds.

Trumbeak and Toucannon are birds, and Rowlet is more bird than plant.

If they're storing pebbles to spit up because they cannot produce seeds then the move should be different.

Making it Bullet Seed is just a straight dumb asspull to give Rowlet an Everstone

From now on in my head Rowlet is using Barrage or Rock Burst

Except in-game, Rowlet don't learn either of those moves. It DOES learn Seed Bomb, but like Ash's Rowlet, someone has to teach the method to it first.

There's not enough time to develop Incineroar, the League's closer than ever and they need to prep everyone else so that Ash, Gladion and Kiawe aren't the literal only kids in Alola who can compete since they all have at least three Pokemon.

Kukui said he was inviting anyone who'd completed their island trials to compete. Seeing as how Ash is in line to complete his while he's 10, I'm pretty sure most of those returning for the League will be kids (or at least younger than the Rocket duo).

This. That ref sheet that leaked almost makes it seem like it was Ash's Incineroar and was going to be Charizard 2.0 with it pummeling Pikachu and everything else left and right. But it's too late now. We now know that ref sheet was specifically made with Smash Bros in mind (hence why it attacks Pikachu), and that Incineroar with the tea kettle on its belt was probably meant to be Kukui's or some shit.

All it's missing is concluding its rivalry with the Masked Royal's Incineroar, but evolving it would leave it underdeveloped since Incineroar as a species is hard-wired to act like a dick ass heel, and there would be zero time for Ash to adapt to this sudden personality shift unless they shove it to the side in a single episode, which would feel stupid and make the anime even more rushed.
