So sure, name it after yourself but if you're not treating it as an entirely separate entity to yourself, you're self inserting.
For example, I used the canon name for the female character in Crystal. Though one I personally dislike, that happens to be one of my own nicknames. Just because she had essentially my name, doesn't mean she was me.
That's okay, but it would've been retardation to be acting as if she were some alternate version of me.
