>>37473631Doesn't have to be specifically american folklore (though there's plenty of good ideas that could come from that, like wendigo or the Mothman), it's just that making something so explicitly Japanese for what was the series'' first departure from Japan feels really out of place. At least the box legendaries, Meloetta, Genesect, and the Swords of Justice feel more culturally neutral.
