If there's going to be a good time to announce Gen 8 proper, it's Pokemon Day.
Especially if they intend to hold onto their KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO audience, which they most likely will, and they'll make constant reminders that "hey we're doing this on the day Pokemon Red and Green released in Japan, ain't that COOL?"

Not OP but it was in some one of many USUM interviews, he said they showed SM too early and that's why they took so long to show any new info about it. I read this interview with my own eyes, it's not something that was made up.

All Masuda said was he did not like how SM was revealed (Logo's, no gameplay, or any other info). So its safe to assume they want to try and avoid that type of reveal.

Tl;Dr The article was from the fuckboys over at NintendoLife who cannot translate for shit. He regreats the reveal method of SM, not how early it was. Fuck NintendoLife.

Right, so they’re not going to reveal Gen 8 this early because they won’t have enough footage to fill the trailers (as in, the multiple trailers they’ll need to reveal every few weeks from now until November).

Because they're thirsty knackers who forgot that SM's Pokémon day revel was barebones to fuck, yet somehow think that in spite of the backlash and Masuda vowing to not make that mistake again, they're going to reveal within the next two months, leaving us with 3 more barren months before Nintendo are ready to start letting them talk about the game again.

They regretted announcing Sun and Moon that early because they had nothing to show. XY were announced in January yet they had plenty of stuff to announce in the following months.

Nintendo don't talk about upcoming games in-depth until they're about 6 months out from release though. It doesn't matter if Game Freak reveal the games blind in the next 10 minutes, Nintendo won't start talking about it until May anyway.
So, please tell me, what is the point of them revealing early, when they'll STILL have to wait until May before being able to talk more about the games?

X/Y certainly didn't have this problem. Maybe they should take a lesson from their reveal of Gen 6, as much as it pains me to say it.
Besides, even having the logos would be enough for now for the majority of the fanbase.

They weren't allowed to show* Regardless of how important (You) see a pokémon release, Nintendo know it's just one of several, both in-house AND third-party titles they have a duty of care to sell. They are too respectable to sandbag anything (again, both their own output and third-party offerings), by suddenly breaking their corporate habit and reveal an in-depth video of a game still 10 months out from release (especially when said game WILL draw the focus of both the industry and the consumer base from anything launching sooner) when there's other games launching sooner within that timeframe that deserve time in the spotlight first.

Yeah, no. The knackers that were crying for an announcement then would in no way just be "happy" with titles. They want starters and box legends too (remember how Corocoro trolled the fans by having SM's boxart, but they weren't showing it "because you're not ready to see this!!!"
