>>37472625I've never done one all the way through and I think it's some combination of me just doing dumb shit + kinda being uninterested in the basic concept (I like the variety but then it feels like I always lose a Pokémon I was just starting to enjoy)
But those times when I actually have quit and not just gotten game over, it's because either my starter died and I wasn't as close to the end as I'd like OR my entire team but one shitty thing get wiped out fairly early on and I just couldn't be fucked training it and starting from nothing.
Also just remembered I tend to self-enforce additional rules like no items in battle, no deliberately grinding, etc., so I guess that's part of the reason it can feel like a drag for me too. But then if I actually did those things it'd feel too much like easy mode. I'm just not really cut out for them unless I get incredibly lucky, I guess
