I encountered recycleberry electabuzz in an early gym in a randomised Emerald. It was hell. Even with numel being immune to its electric attacks, I struggled to do enough damage to cheese my way through.

Unless you have something like perish song the battle does not end. It's not a matter of patience at that point. Having a battle go on for six fucking hours with the same moves spammed is not competitive

perish song, trick and ohko moves are hard counters. disable, taunt, ghost pokemons, baton pass/uturn/volt switch are also pretty good. does funbro carry haze? if not you can build up on it. it can't carry both haze and refresh, and without refresh it gets raped by toxic.
i can see how it would troll the fuck out of people who call startey 'niche' like the majority of smogonfags.

Slowbro could just walk in, setup curse and or amnesia and heal itself with recycle over and over. As long as it doesn't die the berry will kick in automatically every time.
And just have one attack move it can spam over and over. Psychic or Surf/Scald.
