Might as well just cut the middleman and abolish Types entirely, the closest thing to "strategy" with Types in the campaign is switching to a Pokemon that resists the opponent and knows a Super Effective Move, and the AI is too stupid to learn how to switch itself.
While we're at it, there's no real point to having both Physical and Special variations for Attack and Defense, that's too much clutter when we could just simplify it to HP, Attack, Defense and Speed, especially since you'll just end up nuking your opponent anyways by exclusively using moves that favor your Pokemon's best attacking stat, and if the opponent has a high defensive stat to respond to your attacking stat, just switch to someone else who can target their more vulnerable defensive stat instead.
While we're at it, since every Pokemon is now more or less identical beyond superfluous stats, why don't we cut down on how many usable species there are? It's not like the species the opponent used mattered anyway, the AI's too dumb to know what to do with their team.
