Do you think Gen 8 will have an advancement (I mean on a technical level) in graphics/perspective as big as between BW2 and XY? If so, what do you expect?

why do people still pretend that gen 6 was some incredible graphical achievement?
just as some perspective: with a fraction of the budget, digimon world re:digitize decode managed to have a city that felt more alive than lumiose along with normally-proportioned character models *and* following mons, all on the 3ds. game freak is just lazy and bad at optimizing their games.

yes, but digimon(s) are ugly as sin/they don't have the same appeal as Game Freak's monster designs, which is the reason why Pokémon sells more in the first place.

Just because the designs themselves are appealing doesn't mean they can't/shouldn't put more effort into the environment around them. If Digimon can do it, I don't see why Pokemon can't.

Complexity=/=aesthetic. Digimon designs having loads of shit on them really doesn't make them look good. Half of the old ones just have a shit ton of metal weaponry and the new ones are just slutty, overdesigned Gijinka.

You're completely missing his point. He's saying the level of complexity many Digimon designs have makes modeling and animating them much more difficult than for most Pokemon, yet they still manage to come out looking much better (on a technical level) than GF's models and animations.

Considering that LGPE has some of the worst graphics amongst major Switch games, significant improvement is unlikely. They COULD put in the effort, but they won't, and it'll be a miracle if Gen VIII looks better than Town.

But that's not what the final game looks like tho, that's just a screencap from a trailer. I wish Lumiose was as comfy as that pic (altough with more npcs and shit so it looks more lively) but sadly it's all grey walls and stuff. The perspective is kinda cool tho, I wish the whole game was like that.

XY wasn't an upgrade from BW2. Higher graphical fidelity =/= better aesthetics. Pic related is how Pokemon would look best, it's practically bursting with soul.

Also I'm a pixel artist myself, but you'd have to be pretty fucking dumb to deny nice 3D graphics, just for the fact that a 3D environment gives you much more freedom (unless GF fucks it up like they've been doing lately)

Freedom is pretty pointless in a game that's not at all movement-based. It's not a bad thing but it's superfluous and doesn't add anything either.

And this is what nice 3D graphics look like. That N64/PS1 era was just sublimely soulful. Higher fidelity than than is either really boring or really awkward.

Nah not really, PS1 and Saturn yeah, but not the N64 with those blurred textures. However I get where you're coming from. If you want to see more of >>37487504 then google "pokémon n64 fan game" or something like that.
Again, I don't think that's as good as it gets, but a nice Ocarina styled open world just like >>37487594 said would be pretty cool, if done right.

I think that it will have a photorealistic look to it. Game Freak said that they were initially going to make Let's Go look photorealistic but that they ultimately decided against it. So, I'm guessing that when they started working on Let's Go, they initially wanted to use the textures that they made for Gen 8.
