By your logic I never liked a game from the company I work for since I detest most PvP (Pokémon is the only VG I have ever played competitively).
Meanwhile, in reality, despite being an ostensibly casual player I knew it so well they approached me to work for them almost a decade ago (and then proceeded to never listen to me on larger issues so they were always wrong and eventually had to do what I said anyway, lol).
There are definitely people out there who do it for attention, especially women, but it's not the majority any more than the overwhelming majority of male casual players are pretending to like it for attention.
