Will there ever be too many pokemon?

I mean just imagine, if you have around 2k it certainly has to hinder developement since you have to implement all of them.

NOT if you replace the expectation of transferring from Pokémon Bank with an externally developed game like Pokémon Go and never allow the developers to implement any but the most popular old new designs, but leave the fans of unpopular designs hanging on for hope by dropping hints about massive updates that never come.

Since they have 3D models now they don't have to make new sprites every generation. Adding the movepools and basic data can be copy-pasted and edited with ease. The most labour intensive thing will always be adding new Pokemon and locations since they have to be built from scratch.
