You still have a percentage to fill in the Rotom Dex, you still get rewards for catching them all. You still have a NatDex in Bank.
Yes, a main overarching objective in the game is to register them all.

There is no need to cut pokemon anymore since we're moving to consoles. But we're nearing the 1000s and I assume once we reach that, some will have to be booted from the series.

After we reach #1000, there should be a max of maybe 500-600 pokemon in the following games. Less time wasted on old pokemon, more time on new pokemon and interesting movesets as well as better story possibly and better worldbuilding.

Anything to make GameFreak finally make a good pokemon game. I'd gladly give up my favorites just for a Pokemon game to be good like back in the DS ERA.

Video games are made to make money.
It would be absurd not to pander to the nostalgia fags especially after Go became so well known.

I'm not saying I agree with this at all, I've been playing since Red and I think UBs are the coolest shit.
But they are going to follow the money even if it means backstabbing all the people that played every gen like I did.
