>>37516469Ash VS Hala wasn’t that bad, but it could’ve been way better. It was equivalent to Ash VS Grant. The animation in Ash VS Grant wasn’t great but the battle and choreography were top tier. The animation in Ash VS Hala was decent but the battle and choreography was downright awful. Ash VS Olivia was the worse out of all the Grand Trials though. Not only did it have the worse animation out of all of them, but the fact that it was a double battle made it 20x worse and apparent. Compare that to Ash VS Olympia which was the best double battle in the entire series, with amazing choreography and great animation.
I don’t even know why you brought up Nanu, because the only reason why it isn’t the absolute worst Gym/Trial we’ve gotten since Ash VS Elesa is because of the dialogue, with Nanu kicking Ash out of character, which was also incredibly forced but still nice to see nonetheless.
Let me just analyze your list for a second

>Ash VS GladionWhich one? Because the only one that was good was Lycanroc VS Type: Null which was only good for half of the battle. The other half the animation shit the bed and Lycanroc was just raging about.
>Ash VS Royal Mask>Ash VS Hau>Ash VS DiaI’ll agree that these three were great. Although Hau was riddled with O MY DROPPED Z CRYSTAL and Dia’s first battle with Ash wasn’t very good, nor was the animation.
>Lana VS WishiwashiThis wasn’t a battle. And Wishiwashi didn’t even fight back.
>Kiawe VS Alola Marowak This battle also wasn’t very good either and it ended with a completely unnecessary Z-Move for some reason.
