The entire game would take like an hour if they did that.
How have you not noticed the routes are like 20 steps each?
They literally have to stop and distract you at every turn to make the game seem decent length.

They aren’t though. Skipping cutscenes doesn’t fix the awful trials, SOS battles, terrible RegionalDex and overall Pokémon distribution throughout the whole region, all the removed features like the NationalDex, terrible online, over abundance of Legendaries, terrible visuals with the awful bloom effect, worse Trainer Customization than XY, Z-moves, Lillie and plenty of other smaller things I can’t be bothered to list out.

It's because they don't have to. Digimon's models add new animations in new games and they are more detailed, but again, that's irrelevant. Nobody cares if they have a good story, memorable characters, good models, and so on, and nobody cares if Pokemon still has Blastoise shooting water from it's forehead 10 years down the line and "Ultra Changes" because Pokemon is still called Pokemon, and therefore it'll make more money than anyone else.
