There are definitely designs I personally hate or ones that I believe to be weaker in quality, but I find that a design is only truly bad if I feel that it completely fails to have its own unique appeal (and is thus unnecessary) or is Tsareena, who could be a badass don't need no man kicking machine but instead just ended up objectified fetish bait. I don't consider something like Dewgong or Swanna to be without unique appeal as they still have their own identities, and you know somebody out there just really fucking loves a simple pinniped or swan. Examples of what I would consider lacking include but are not limited to; things like Dusk that are just a retread of a previous design without reaching a new conclusion; evolutions that don't expand enough on their line such as Pidgeotto/Pidgeot which are almost indistinguishable; a design which is completely barren as far as finding new/fresh qualities goes such as Petilil or Zeraora.
I will always advocate a design that's "offensive" or out there in appeal making a small number of people extremely happy over a design that's inoffensive and tried-and-true but nobody really talks about because it's nothing special. The exception being Tsareena, fuck Tsareena.
