I love gen 4 as a whole but it'd be crazy to deny that this wasn't the gen with the busiests monster designs. Again I love gen 4 pokemon but we can't deny the designs and legends are a little over the top.

8th of Pokémon introduced less than that.

Game freak needs to introduce more new Pokémon again.

I agree with this a lot. The problem is that they had to follow up gen 3 wich was a masterpiece so they put too much thought into it. But some of the gen 4 designs are really coolZ. I like empoleon and mamoswine.

Gen 1, Gen 3 and Gen 5 were the only gens to introduce over 100 brand new pokemon really.

If you count legends:

Jotho has 81
Sinnoh has 78
Kalos has 72
Alola has 88

So, it think Gen 8 might be another Gen 3 (Gen 5 will never happen again but i could see a gen with 120ish new pokemon)

Not every gen needs over 100 new pokemon.
It's fine if we get some gens with 75-85 new pokemon, keep in mind that we get new gens every 3 years.

Altrough, i think Gen 8 would be a good gen to have about 130 new pokemon again since it's designed to the hardcore fans like BW was.

nah, gen4 succeeded in just one thing : doing everything worst than the previous version, giving the whole games some shitty aftertaste.

I'm not saying hoenn was a masterpiece like >>37504207 because the story could have been better but given the limitations, gen3 was well done, it ran fast, the dex somewhat made sense and, if the plot was over the top in scale, it was their first try.

That's evidently not the case, most Alola mons are absolute garbage, and the Kalos mons aren't shining beacons of quality, either. Spout the meme all you want, but it's fairly proven that when we're dealing with Game Freak, there's no correlation between quantity and quality, so we may as well just ask for quantity.

Yes, exactly, there's no correlation. Having a fuckton of really good designs is not outrageous. If anything, having a small amount of new mons means that we're more likely to get the furbait and waifumons, if Gen 7 has taught is anything. If I didn't know any better, I'd think that Game Freak intentionally made the gen like this because they weren't sure that they'd be able to make enough good mons in such a small dex to appeal to fans. And I still don't know any better.

I like Gen 4’s Pokémon a lot, but I’m not a fan of most of the cross gen evolutions.

Its a shame, because I feel like most of the original designs are great, like Hippowdon, Garchomp or Toxicroak being cool Pokémon. But then there’s shit like Rhyperior that looks obese and messy compared to its previous form.
