Did they even understood why Youkai Watch got popolar? Or they thought Pokemon would be as good as Youkai Watch if they put Ash in school where everybody makes memefaces?
Youkai Watch got popular for two reason --

-- A. Youkai Watch followed the main concept of the franchise. It was about befriending Youkai to get their Youkai medal and almost every episode ended with Keita receiving a Youkai medal. Pokemon is about capturing super powered monster and use them for battle but the anime tries to avoid this all the time.

-- B. Youkai Watch didn't play safe, they were willing to do anything for actual humor and comedy. Unlike S/M series that rely on watered down humor and memeface for comedy that are not even laughable. Example : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtKYn45tEXE

That dance is literally the only reason YW didn't die with a whimper in 2014 or 2015. Now that no one cares about that dance anymore, no one in Japan really cares about YW anymore. Its upcoming Switch game has zero hype in Japan:

They literally copied everything from Yo-Kai Watch that could be copied without making Pokemon obscure and too ethnic. Pokemon is aimed at worldwide appeal, which is the very reason many Japs don't care for it. They want something made for them, fuck the rest of the world.
There's a thread on 5ch right now talking about how Pokemon is becoming an American anime.

Uh huh. You hold that thought and get back to me with the comparison of how YW4 and Pokémon Generation 8 sell in Japan this year. They're both being released on the Switch in winter 2019.

I bet YW4 sells fewer copies in Japan than Let's Go.

Not OP, but I feel like Gen 7 had a more cartoony eccentric motif for its mons compared to other gens. Plus stuff like starters and Tsareena had Pokedex entries describing set personalities

I confess I'm slightly curious about how an american staff would deal with Pokemon if they had the chance to produce an entire arc about Ash going to the next region.

WITHOUT pandering about nostalgia, because I think the first thing an american staff would do is bring Misty and Brock back permanently (lame).

Isn't the Aloladex the first time predator/prey relationships have been made explicit?
There were mentions of it before but I don't think any previous gen stated explicitly that Pokemon eat other Pokemon and not just never-on-screen normal animals.
Crabrawler's entry even says the meat in its claws is delicious.

No, it's been done before. We know from older dex entries that Pidgeotto hunt Magikarp and Exeggcute and that Swellow and Starly hunt Wurmple.
But the Alola dex probably has the most references to predation.

I do.
I mean I only played the first one, but I thought it was cool, and 4 being an ARPG fixes my main problem with the game (battles weren't interactive enough) so I'm probably getting it.
Will be annoyed if half the Yokai are still recolors though.

Imagine having reading comprehension like a retard. All that post said was Let's Go is going to sell better than Yo-kai Watch 4 in Japan, which is likely true.

Also, YW4 looks like trash, especially its frame rate. Let's Go being bad doesn't make YW4 good. I don't know how you can call anyone else "mad" when you're palpably seething that someone said something mean about some shitty, dying franchise (YW) that no one in the West cares about.
