First being that the animations are generally a lot weaker in LGPE, which means that the previous games have a stronger impact due to the charisma of the Pokemon and its personality. I wouldn't say Onix is a particular example, but there are definitely some massive lads that would look a lot less impressive with the more standardised and safe movements of Gen 6+ games.
The second is more a product of what the game is rather than the game itself, however it is a fairly obvious statement to make that the older games had more. They already have Wailord, for example, and the rest of Gens 2/3/4 while also maintaining a higher quality of atmosphere with the lively actions of each model. Sure the models their selves aren't as refined, but when LGPE only has 153 to work with then it wouldn't be that difficult to put in a little effort and meet a greater animation standard equal or greater than that of the other console games - or at the very least above that of Gen 6/7. We all know about the Blastoise meme.
Again I am happy for LGPE finally addressing this issue, but I also can't say I'm satisfied when we have been shown that not only can a lot more be done with these lovely creatures - it has already been done in the past.
