>>37507095It's an interesting question. While there had been the smattering of ones people locked onto through the games, those still were probably incidental. Gen 6 started playing a little more fast and loose with it, but it wasn't really until gen 7 that GF was outright blatant, we-know-exactly-what-we're-doing about it. Will they keep up the dame degree for gen 8? Who knows. Maybe they will, maybe they'll lay it on thicker, maybe the Pokemon Company will yank the choke chain as a reminder of the image they want to present. I wouldn't be surprised if the Detective Pikachu movie will go out of its way to not show any of the common waifumons because the suits just don't want to deal with it. Otherwise, we're likely to end up with things like lopunny or gardevoir lounge singers in some nightclub the pair go to looking for clues.
