>>37522573This is true, and you make a good point. I think what's bothering me is that the last two gens all ended up as bipedal humanoids, barring Primarina, which was just a mermaid. I actually really liked gen 6's starters, but 7's felt a bit repetitive. I'd just like more variety, and felt that moving away from the standard animal themes might bring something interesting to the table.

I was thinking the grass type would be closer to Tangela or Carnivine than, say, Leafeon or Pansage, for example. A plant monster, not a monster that's part plant. Fire and water would, admittedly, be a bit harder to work with without dipping into the "X with a face" problem, but there has to be some way to make it interesting. Dual typing could work, I guess. Give it more material to work with.
