Some of them will have better/worse sales depending on how good/bad the plush looks. However, neither Blastoise or Venusaur have that offensive of a plush so it probably isn't affecting them.

Keep in mind that this is in Japan and they're not obssesed about kanto like murica and it's the first ever Swampert and Meganium plush. Charizard and Blastoise already had various plushies so it's pretty normal to see Swampert, Meganium and others beating kanto starters in sales.

This makes sense to me as a Venusaurfag myself, for the simple reason that I and many other Venusaur fans that I’ve met aren’t very keen on the starters overall.

Basically most Venusaurfags side with Venusaur simply because he’s the least childlike of the original three, so if we HAVE to pick one we gravitate towards him. However, left free to pick any Pokémon we like, not just from starters, most Venusaurfags have many other favorites they’d rather have a plush of. For example, I have a Chandelure and a Snorlax that I love dearly, and thus no need for any starter plushies; I already secured my favorites. I’d imagine many other Venusaurfags feel similarly.

That Cyndaquil is cute as fuck though I’d buy that one.

That's honestly pretty sad considering how Venusaur got one of the best looking plushies of the set. Meganium also got a great plush and she's surprisingly high. Other well done plushes were Blastoise, Delphox, Chesnaught, Torterra and Swampert. Weirdly enough, some of the plushies they royally fucked up are also selling well. I was anxious for new Scep and Gatr plushies, but they're pretty horrible. Serperior looks retarded. Blaziken is meh. Infernape is pretty bad too. Greninja being at the top is not surprising, but his plush is alright, really. Too similar to previous ones, so i don't see the big deal.
