There's nothing outside of Lumiose City that screamed France.

It's just as generic of a region as they come, it could have been inspired by Japan to a random person.

Even Johto and Alola are pretty much unique and both stay in touch with the regions they represent.

I miss when Hoenn came out and I was just a dumb kid and I thought it was it’s own made up magic tropical Pokémon island.

France doesn't look like Paris everywhere, many city's and towns has the classic architecture (with the thin windows/doors and the tall roofs) but that's not everywhere.

Johto I wasn't expecting every town looks like rural and traditonal japan, that would be boring eventually

The Green Knight would make a pretty good token human-type Pokemon. Maybe a physical Grass/Fairy or Grass/Steel if you wanted to be more obvious.

Because it's set in mid-western England and is a Japanese portray of said place. It was a passing comparison with how the area can be shown in that similarly idealised way that France was with Kalos.

I'm sure there's plenty of other Japanese takes on England, but it was the first to come to mind.

Sounds really good, anon - would definitely make room for it on my team, even if it would cut through the region like a hot Fairy knife.

I could see there being a Nidoking/queen split mon along the lines of Oberon and Titania, although it seems like keeping the region from being too Fairy-centric would be a task in itself.
You could have a cool Dark-type Hound of the Baskerville reference though. Maybe make it the pseudo-evil legendary or something.

You could go the Quadrophenia route and make the rival gangs mods and rockers. Might be a job to distinguish the rockers from Roughnecks, but they'd probably fit in more than Plasma's Knights in Unova.

Maybe the Beast of Bodmin Moor then. Pretty sure it's a big black cat, though I haven't exactly read too deeply. With all that mist on the moor you could make it Ice/Dark or really just about whatever gaps the dex was missing.

Sherwood Forest would work pretty well as its own route or Viridian Forest analogue.

Hever Castle fits as a Parfum Palace plot stop-off, but it could make for a neat gym as well.

I'm from france and I have travelled in pretty much every region of the country and kalos was an excellent rendition of the feeling of france, the towns were typical of where they were on the map, the french names were perfectly choosen and the biomes were on point. it's a shame the rest of the world got those weird ass names, auffrac-les-congères, romans-sous-bois, Yantreizh, relifac-le-haut, every name was just perfect.

Kalos had that whole fancy medieval-Renaissance thing going on, so what would a UK inspired region be like?

Japanese have more of an affinity and association with turn of the century France than those time periods. They barely know what the renaissance is, or if they do they think of Italy, and they associate the UK with knights and armour. France they think of as a place of bakeries, flower shops, handbags, and stuff like the Eiffel Tower.

Were Lysander the actual king, his actions would be legal and the main character would be a dangerous terrorist. Also, a king in France, the country that decapitated it (we left him a chance but he fled so we cut the losses)(what followed was a mess, an emperor, another king, a mess again, and democracy)

Say what you want, old buildings with architectural value are renovated and usually transformed into museums so they are still there. I suspect some of the art team came to visit because they really captured the feeling of France while doing their thing like romant-sous-bois and Valerie's gym with kimono girls which I highly doubt you would find in lile.
