Pokemon however shoves Kanto in everything, every chance they get, how many times has kanto been in games since Gen 1? it was in Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5 ripped off it and now Gen 7, it's not nostalgic when it's constantly in your face.

(ps.s Digimon Anime series 1-3 were/are better than the Pokemon anime anyway)

Yeah but those movies were actually good and added to the plot. Sure the original series was a lot of monster of the week bullshit that didn't amount to much, but its clear we see their progression over the years. We don't with Pokemon, it's always reset, and not even in a good way with a new main protagonist each time.

As far as the games are concerned, its honestly the same thing. While in general Pokemon usually held the crown due to its gameplay vastly exceed most Digimon games, there are a few gems within the series where it shines above.

Also Hikari is a fucking qt.

The PSP, Vita and PS4 Digimon games have been leagues better than anything Pokemon has done since Masuda got his hands on the reigns. The recent World games especially, the original had a ton of promise and atmosphere, but was tedious and unrefined.

Not a central point, it doesn't. And certainly not to the same degree that Digimon does. AG has literally zero to accredit to. DP has Paul and Team Galactic, but that has been exaggerated since this is one of the only points where the villains were an actual threat at all, and like I said, at least Galactic isn't even a main plot point. Paul might be, but nothing is gained from it. Ash is still the same. I still don't feel like Paul had enough presence to be an ever looming threat like anything in Digimon is. SM...immediate dismissal.

Hunter J also had an arc where she died a brutal death but Paul and Infernape did get alot of character development from the arc at least. SM is definitely the second best written series behind DP because it had multiple episodes and arcs that were very well-written. Digimon is just overrated since Leomon's death and Black WarGreymon are the only parts of the series that are worth talking about.

I was thinking about how the villains of Adventure compare to Galactic, and they honestly aren't that much better. The only difference actually arrives in the matter Myotismon actually manages to kill someone, and so do the Dark Masters. Tamers, as serious as it is, the villains aren't really that effective until close to the end, and the D-Reaper, as disturbing as it is, does fuck all. For Frontier, though, the villain actually pulls a Xanatos Gambit that very nearly succeeds and is only stopped at the last second. Savers has a Ghetsis level villain practically destroyed by their own hubris.

The only villains I care about in the games and anime are Cyrus, Giovanni, Ghetsis, Max and Archie, Guzzlord, Nihilego, and Hunter J but everyone else was utter shit. Digimon villains just peaked at Beezlemon because he at least had character depth and was apart of the best fight in the series. I don't remember Max and Archie being that eventful in the anime. Team Plasma's junk was repetitive and boring. I don't even know what UBs do in the show or why. I will admit that the villains of Digimon aren't as great as people aren't as great as people say they are. Even the ones that actually do have well executed plans are pretty one dimensional. I can't say anything better for Pokemon, though. Maybe Galactic and Flare had what could be called a well executed plan, but they're both pretty one dimensional as well. The anime isn't even about their plot exclusively, either. You might be able to argue that neither is Digimon, either, it just plays pass the torch to the next in the Sorting Algorithm of Evil. Only Frontier had something that could be said to be an actual hierarchy that led to a central threat from the beginning. (although that would still count as the Sorting Algorithm)

Perhaps neither had that good of a plot, but Digimon still took itself more seriously in that aspect.

Next Order was hot garbage, especially compared to the original Digimon World. The only thing it did better was add a couple of QoL things. The shitty bloated stats they gave enemy mons in the PS4 version made that game far more tedious than the original.

Most of the villains I mentioned were only great in the games but Max and Archie were very entertaining. wasn't repetitive since it was a completely different storyline. Team Galactic's plan was a well executed plan but Team Flare's was the dumbest shit ever. Digimon took itself alot more seriously because the characters were either fighting some trouble-making fodder or evil boss monsters. It was in no way competitive and mostly affiliated with SOL like Pokemon was.

Personally I'm not fond of the game villains, outside of Giovanni and N, every villain can be summarized as "Mwahahahah! I'm going to use my army of grunts and use the Legendary Pokemon™ to take over and/or destroy the world!" With Giovanni just being a crimelord (Though USUM turned him into a dimension hopping super villain with a strong bond with Mewtwo?) and Ghetsis being the real villain as opposed to N.

What I liked from Digimon's is that Analogman didn't see Digimon as living beings but as program, Overlord GAIA wanted to become a God, Vitium just wanted to exist, The Eaters are Lovecraftian Horrors trying to understand lesser beings (And are done much better than UBs imo) and Diaboromon literally just wanted to nuke Japan because it was having fun.

Digimon Tamers was mostly praised by the hardcore webbs of that time because it was written by one of the evangelion writers. The only season with ratings similar to Season 1 was Savers and it was a show that wasn’t popular with the internet Digimon fandom.

Tk is one of the most boring character on Digimon, he is basically a Gary Stu. In fact, the main reason XY Ash was boring because the anime made act more like Tk.

also, when he did show ash-level recklessness, he was punished for it by getting a skullgreymon he couldn't control and making agumon scared to digivolve for a couple episodes. meanwhile, ash got rewarded with badges on sheer plot armor alone.

1.- Static characters are a thing unfortunately
2.- Despite the memes about Ash being the most hated and less popular, his face and TRio are the most familiar humans in the franchise.

After rewatching the original series, I realized that Ash was much more smarter and competent than a regular 10 year old boy. Most of his mistake came from his lack of knowledge rather than his brain. However during any crisis Ash manage to came up with idea that often saved his skin.

Ash is an quick thinker, he could came up decent idea whenever he was in danger and often used his ingenuity to cover for his lack of knowledge. Such as using Misty's bike to super charge Pikachu when he faced Team Rocket for the first time.

In fact, the only reason Digidestined won was because of multiple Deus-Ex-Machina moment that took place whenever they were in danger.

I have to disagree. Ash makes up junk as he goes along. This is most of why I find the Paul rivalry to be such a joke because Paul is clearly more competent than him, but since anime, he has to be the bad guy. Can I say that any Digimon protagonist has an actual plan? Not really, they just blindly trod forward unless outright given the answers. At least they have a sense of how the world works. I can't say the same for Ash.
