So we all agree that USUM Totem battles were the most challenging battles in this series since Gen 4 and anyone who says Gen 7 is easy is a fucking retard?

The only easy things about Gen 6 and 7 are the EXP Share. It was an incredibly stupid and game changing decision to change the EXP Share the way they did in Gen 6 and it ruined the experience, however with the EXP Share the games become much more difficult.

If they returned the EXP Share to how it was in Gen 5 then the difficulty of USUM would probably be the best in the series.

Theres only one totem per playthrough that’s a struggle(changes depending on the team), so, no. Gen 4 was just tough all around

If you don't use the grind becomes tedious and time consuming. Any game can be easy if you overlevel your team for hours and hours. There needs to be an EXP Share, for training your team, but it should only apply to one Pokemon at a time like it used to.

I remember when the exp. share was used to help a certain pokemon that you just captured and wanted in your team to get some levels so it could take the wild pokemon and get some levels closer to the rest of the party. Now its simply a "just pick your strongest pokemon and let them sweep the enemy team, your entire party will gain the same exp anyway lol".

It was only tricky for a few moments. It only took the second one for me to realize what the inherent flaw in them is and thus be able to humiliate all of them, including the USUM ones, even though they're somewhat more deviously crafted. It wasn't harder than any gym for me.

Gen 7 handled the Exp. Share (and XP as a whole) much better than 6 the previous generation, but still has a lot of room for improvement.

In XY/ORAS i turned it off as soon as i got it, and still stomped everyone with an overleveled team.

In SM/USM i did the same, and the result was: 1) overleveled in the beggining, 2) fine for most of the game, 3) terribly underleveled by Poni Island, to the point that i had to either turn it on or grind.

I like the idea of new Exp. Share, but they should nerf it a bit. Maybe give 20%, and not 50%, to everyone.

The true determiner of how hard a Pokémon game is would be a Nuzlocke. Obviously this is just my opinion, but thus far I would have to say either Emerald or Black 2 White 2 are the most difficult because of how hard their Nuzlockes are.

I have yet to Nuzlocke a Gen 7 game because I am absolutely dreading the four hour cutscene at the beginning. I might just fucking skip it, which is a horrible shame because I like the games, it's just the cutscenes are so unbearable.

I've Nuzlocked Ultra Sun with no EXP Share and wiped both times, once to Totem Marowak and once to Totem Lurantis. I didn't want to overlevel my teams but I also went in blind and didn't know what level the Totems were and their allies would be.

I imagine the later Totems are even worse.

Just reduce the XP it gives, or even better, introduce an option to set it to 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50% so we can fine-tune how much grinding we want.
The idea behind it is good because it reduces grind. It's just that the execution went a little overboard.

That being said, Mother Beast battle was bullshit and even though it was hard I wished we could’ve actually fought it as a Totem for the 6th spot on its team

Only thing difficult in gen 7 was the Necrozma fight, and even then, it's more tedious than difficult.
All the totems have the potential to be difficult depending on your team, but since anyone over the age of 8 is going to want to have more than one type in their moveset the large majority of the totems will end in the blink of an eye.
Really just wish pokemon would start using doubles at the default format, would naturally make things harder and move involved and allow for all the doubles moves and abilities to be used for fucking once.
