>>37529896Gen II remake speculation was a wonderful era. FRLG gave the first hint that they were on the way with the line about Giovanni's son having red hair. Diamond and Pearl seemed to be filled with references, from the big gold and silver Poké Ball in the middle of the Pokémon Center, the gold and silver Park Ball with the crystal line down the middle, the Red Gyarados story at the beginning, Jasmine in Sunyshore City, the return of the day and night cycle, the larger focus on new evolutions for old Pokémon, Johto being an obtained location, etc. It was only around Gen V that other Generations were mentioned equally. Gen IV felt like the first time since Gen II that the new region referenced an older one. Kanto wasn't really mentioned that much in RS Hoenn. The 3DS era may somehow have really high sales, but that's only because the DS era laid down the foundations and made so many fans.
