XY has the biggest regional dex. Almost every game location has exclusive Pokemon species in them. In the post-game, nearly every single Pokemon is available in the game through FS.

I found SM/USUM the most enjoyable to try and fill the fed out in. I don’t think before gen 7 I ever felt the desire to catch every Pokémon, but I really liked how they showed the pages of Pokémon and would congratulate you for completing a entry

The most fun I had collecting Pokemon was in ORAS, due to the DexNav. Having a visual indicator of Pokemon to catch in each area was a great motivator. Of course, they had to get rid of it.

Dexnav, PSS, and the Poketch were great bottom screens. The rotomdex was the least helpful and most annoying bottom screen in the series. The map feature was virtually useless considering the lack of features in Alola. Additionally, when attempting to access the map the dex would start talking. They didn't fix this in USUM either. It's weird how Gamefreak removes content instead of adding better features

Yes, in fact, this is what bugs me most about XY. Every route has a fuckton of encounters, so I have to keep either a guide or a website up to know if I'm not missing anything.

Hell, that's what's nice about those ORAS hacks that go apeshit and add a shitload of new Pokemon to every route. You can still see via DexNav whether you have everything or not.
