Instead of fighting tooth and nail to defend your original viewpoint despite everything, you should go into discussions specifically looking to have your mind changed. People need to grow and learn, and that involves admitting when you're wrong so you can be right about it in the future. Otherwise you become this overly defensive manchild that no one can stand actually speaking to.
