Custom music with options to change battle music.
Customizable characters and new areas.
Can get all 16 badges in ANY order as the gyms level up as you gain badges. Gyms are also rechallengeable and you can pick the level (called sets) theyre at before rechallenging.
Dont have to visit 90% of the cities to be able to fly to them. No badge requirement for HMs either, just need to have enough to get certain ones (eg need 3 for Fly). HMs act like TMs in that you can replace them at any time in your pokemons moveset, removing the need for an HM slave. You can buy every single TM if you have enough badges.
All 251 pokemon available, with how-to's for legendaries on shockslayers website.
No dogshit quests that lock you from certain areas or make you do plot related stuff. Only legit quests are the Mew/two and Suicune events.
Elite four is new and you can meet all 5 members during regular gameplay if youre very good at looking around. Elite four have SHINIES too.
LOTS of restrictions have been removed, eg rock smash has been entirely removed, lots of cliffs have been edited for easy access, CUT trees are now few and far between, etc.
NEW CINNABAR. The old one is still thwre, but this game takes place way after the OG Crystal Version.
Once the Ruby/Emerald disassemblies are done, theyll work on a GBA version :D
