The Japanese are all about the "new" things, so they want new pokemon, not rehashes of a game that they have played many, many times before, and sorry, sales do matter when it comes to the Japanese, they eat up anything Pokemon, but these games under preformed there and Gamefreak care a lot about what Japan want, why do you think there are so many waifyu, bara and loli shenanigans in the games now.
