Pokemon battling is a sport. People don't catch Pokemon to protect themselves, they catch them to compete against other trainers.

catching and battling pokémon is too dangerous for children

gen 8 is removing battles and replacing them with a gacha-based card battle system. also shinies will be 1/64 odds
