>>37562905If you're specifically talking about monster collecting RPGs, I think World of Final Fantasy was pretty good, if somewhat limiting.
Especially if you already like Final Fantasy, you'll probably like it a lot. It's basically what Trash Go tried to be, only good.
Has a bunch of references, monsters, characters, etc. from the other FF games without beating you over the head with one specific game, and is somewhat easier to lure in series newbs but not braindead easy or tutorialed to hell (cutscenes are all skippable and you can find them all in the main menu if you later find yourself lost).
Also, it has ATB garbage ("Active"), but you can limit it ("Semi-active") or essentially turn it off ("Wait") to make it basically turn based in the options. You can also choose between a simplified and traditional menu layout during battle and even fast forward them for grinding.
They do limit a bunch of forms based on the point you are in the story and whatnot and there aren't as many monsters as there could easily have been to take on but unlike Trash Go it actually accomplishes what it sets out to do without compromising the content and playability for everyone.
