What would happen if they decided to make Samurott a humanoid? Would it actually get more beloved or get even more hate? I think it looks cool but some people think it’s the worst starter ever made

Beloved. Pull a Gen6/7 Purrloin by having it stand upright, with one or both of its swords drawn out and not many would have a problem with it. Samurott is one of the few starters in Pokémon that would look cooler as a biped.

I, personally, don't like it because I was disappointed with its design, given that its pre-evos were both humanoids. I'd probably like it more had its pre-evos been also quadrupeds or had it been a humanoid.

It being bipedal or quadrupedal kind of goes out the window in the context of it being an aquatic pokemon, If it's like actual sea otters, it almost has no need to go on land since it would just hunt, eat and sleep in the water. But if it had to be on land, what's to stop Samurott from just mowing down opponents with the horn on its head?

I think that Samurott's only real problem (aside from not having access to Shell Smash) is that they didn't do a real good job showing it off.
We know that it can at times be bipedal to dual-wield those shellblades, but in games it's stuck in that stiff looking pose. I don't play the tcg so maybe there is some good art out there???

And the Unova anime was the worst. You got shit like this >>37564501 that I think helped cement people's opinions on how awkward a starter it really is.

I like Samurott's concept, but it's a culmination of 3 things in which he excels at neither of them and shows them rather poorly.
