Yeah Ralts had a generally low appearance rate. I think Mightyena was more used since while it was a basic early route shitmon, it had the appeal of being dark type which in gen 2 were fare rarer.

used Altaria as my flyer, swellow isn’t bad, but it’s pretty simple. most Gen 3 pokemon are overdesigned and ambiguous, swellow is one of the least offensive
