No, it would greatly overshadow FE which is the stated focus of the direct. Actually this is specifically the reason why Pokemon gets its own directs.

Then explain the 5 Q&A sessions taking place during the Pokémon Day events in NYC.
Something has to be announced before that. Not necessarily Gen 8, but definitely something.

It's a Q&A about the development process and general proceedings behind the scenes during the development of Let's Go. Any question involving Gen 8 will be met with "We do not wish to disclose anything about the next generation of games at this time.". Maybe we'll have some event pokemon for LGPE, or something else to try and get us to buy the game.

Lol they already explained the development in numerous interviews. If Let's Go was releasing this month then it'd be understandable. But it's the fucking Nintendo Treehouse of all people, on not just 1 Pokemon Day but an entire week. How does this not signal any flags of an announcement coming soon?

Also, as >>37564294 says, Let's Go's development has been talked about a whole lot already. And the fact there are plenty of Nintendo Treehouses during the NYC events is kind of a huge signal that there WILL be something worth talking about.

During the Direct in which they announced USUM they had other games to announce as well. They won't make another Direct like SM's because they don't want to repeat that type of announcement. I won't be surprised if they will decide to put the first trailer for gen 8 at the end as the typical "one more announcement"

If it were the gen 8 games, how could there possibly be enough to ask that it would fill 5 days? Unless there's a bigger-than-ever blowout of information when the games are announced, there'll be nothing to ask about. Even ignoring SM, if you look at the XY reveal trailer, I don't think you could get 5 days of Q&A out of it. If the announcement were like LGPE, maybe you could, but that was announced in May, not February.

I'm not saying all the 5 sessions are Gen 8 related, but some of those WILL be related to something new being announced. No matter if this about Gen 8 or not, but there has to be something new announced before those Q&As.

Once again, they already know most of the questions they'll receive are gen 8 related, and they don't want to spend most of those sessions avoiding answering questions.
