I actually like the anime better, or it made a bigger impact. The game's NPCs are too obviously stupid, much dumber than Ash or any character in the anime. So it creates the idea the games are engineered to set you up as a hero/special snowflake, when in fact you are nothing special once you take your in-game team to competitive.
With each new game in the series, it seems like GF has made the Pokemon games out to be a self-esteem boosting simulator. Which makes it all the more pathetic, to the point I can't play USUM without feeling dirty, and won't touch LGPE.
