I just played the demo version of Pokemon Let's Go. I'm gonna summarize and review it here for anybody who's interested.
The version you get is random. I ended up with Eevee version this first time around. It's just the same Viridian Forest demo they've shown everywhere during pre release. Oak is standing at the entrance ready to meet you, he spits out some dialogue, and you're on your way. He says you need to catch pokemon for research purposes but it doesn't matter if you catch any at all. You start with a full team of 6, the starters, Eevee, Pikachu, and Meowth. The partner Eevee I had had one of the pee pee poo poo moves on it. I'm sure it's up to chance which one you get, but I got Sizzly Slide. The first thing I noticed was that you play with a single joy con. It's just about the most frustrating controller setup ever concocted bar certain peripherals(looking at you, chainsaw controller). The next thing I noticed was just how fucking dreadful the shadows were. They were about as smooth as Bubsy's transition to 3D and look like they were ripped from an N64 game. The motion controls were inaccurate. Whenever I'd do a straight shot down the middle after attempting a curve throw it would sometimes veer off somewhere else. The trainer battles were all ridiculously easy. I think I maybe took 10 damage total from the 3 pokemon with the 3 trainers. One of which I let hit me 3 times with a STAB attack which was only a single level behind me. Throughout the whole experience I felt unbridled hatred like no other and by the end of it, it truly sunk in that pokemon was doomed and I started writing this.
