It's legitimate. It's not easy to build a team that can counter, check, or disable various top threats in the meta, and it requires tons of patience so to not rush things and make a mistake.

its a legitimate strat because it works, but just because it works doesn't mean you should do it.
it's cancer, very boring to play against, and everyone hates you for doing it.

there's no reason to stall on ladder, it's an inefficient way to increase your elo per hour even if your winrate is marginally higher

stall is more matchup based than any other style and wins oir loses mainly at team preview
imo playing against it can be very fun and a proving ground to develop good habits in timing your aggression, but stall v stall/slow balance is a tire fire matchup that usually leads to pp wars which is the single lamest thing in the game

it's cancer mostly because artificially kept alive by smogon on its formats
actual stall and defensive cores are more balanced themselves now and in the official formats, there are no shit like obscure gen 3 wish chansey events, a useful item clause, stall breakers are allowed, etc

the stall in pic related is solely kept alive because whatever mon bullies it gets banned or gets its ability banned

stall is much riskier to run in the current metagame than it was in msab era oras
it got toxapex and some defoggers but in return lost baton pass (notably killing shed stall), z lure sets on fucking EVERYTHING that can easily blow up crucial links, old unwallables like mawile and hoopa, and new monsters like kartana, z-kyub, and especially lele, who can literally 6-0 stall with specs and enough 50/50s, or outright win with taunt/cm

Both. I acknowledge that it's cancer and that's why I enjoy using it.
I use a Dusclops with Frisk instead of Pressure, and no Spite, to frustrate the opponent until they quit.
I'm a fucking asshole.
