OG Archie and Maxie were pretty bland.
They went gung-ho with Aqua's pirate theme this time around, and they completely revamped the Magmas to be intellectuals as to really drive the brain vs. brawn aspect of the opposing teams.
I think the redesigns were the best part of ORAS, to be honest. Gave them quite a lot of personality. Basically one of the few good things about it.
