There’s no way 20 years from now there’s still gonna be more Pokémon being made. There’s no way we will have 2000 fucking Pokémon. They are already out of ideas.

There are more digimon than pokemon, more yugioh card monsters than pokemon, more mythical creatures and random objects waiting for googly eyes, etc

Realistically, we could have new pokemon as long as the human race exists, hypothetically a machine could probably randomly-generate pokemon for centuries after the last human has died

I mean, Mega's are obviously an idea to keep making what if effectively new pokemon without clogging up the numbers.

I still won't be surprised if eventually they start giving some pokemon a 4th evolution.

Yugioh has it rough, every new card pretty much always means a new monster. A few new decks to sell is an entire generation of pokemon to us.

Digimon is just being fucking stupid though. They need to do better when it comes to reusability.
