It was some of my first exposures to pokemon and I rember barely anything about it but the illusionary mewtwo and after being unable to find anything about it I gave up assuming it was just some weird fever dream that never actually existed but found out about it again recently.

Yeah, this was a thing, but no one wants to remember it. It wasn't interesting, and is infamous for being the debut of the TCPI voice actors.

It had one thing that the anime normally doesn't, and that's consistency.

I liked the villain straight out checking Pikachu's memory and refer to the various movies.
