The landscapes are so much more diverse with areas such as Route 4, the Desert Resort, Castelia City, Village Bridge, Charlestown Cave, Twost Mountain (the area with the construction and bridges), Giant Chasm, Lacunosa Town, Dream Yard, Virbank Complex, Anville Town, and many more.
Kanto is literally a square where most of the routes, caves, and towns look identical and lack the unique charm that later games give to their locations.
