I mean, apart from being the 3rd fire/fighting type in a row and not being competitively viable, people just seem to inherently despite him. He's actually my favorite of the fire type starters because I like his design and I love his hidden ability and how well it jives with his moveset. The other two are basically just the tired old minmax ATK/SPE shit. Emboar's moveset is actually pretty interesting.
