People hate it because it was a huge let down compared to the battle frontier. That and it was just the previous post-game area recycled in a slightly bigger area. I don't think it was terrible but it was just disappointing (That applies to ORAS in general) It had big shoes to fill and it failed to do that. I will give it that it's not the fucking Battle Tree. Fuck that place.

something like the sinnoh battle frontier would be nice, even gen 5 gave you an option with the battle subway and the PWT, but in gen 6 it's either the maison or nothing

I think it has to do with expectations. People expected the Battle Frontier to return and were disappointed when it turned out it didn't.
GF put then extra salt over the wounds when the Battle Frontier project was shown, of which GF thought would be a cute reference to the people who played Emerald, and GF's explanation of why the Battle Frontier didn't return.

I don't think the Battle Resort was bad, having an extra daycare was nice, I think it was just underwhelming as a postgame area.

Yeah after HGSS I didn't expect remakes to remove and ruin stuff from the original but there you go, it's just the maison from XY

The PWT is an upgrade of the battle Dome

I think it was very dumb of them to shoehorn all of the battle cafes from Lumiose city into Mallville rather than move them all to the Battle Resort. Like why not actually put battle facilities in the big battle facility? Mauville is a better battle facility than the fucking battle resort.
