Gen 8 isn't coming out this year. It'll be ANNOUNCED this year though. I hate to be that guy to bring up ebin leakers, but Zell has been 100% accurate about everything he's said for months now and he's not a dramafagging attention whore so I think he's legit.

Dude says GF intended for the gen 8 games to be 2019 but they bit off more than they could chew on the dev side because - as everyone on this board already knows - GF basically operates like a small-time studio (despite having gajillions of dollars) and cannot into HD graphics and large worlds without bumping into copious tech problems. "Town" is basically a tech demo where they're trying to iron out the kinks.

So it COULD come out this year, but I think realistically speaking it'll be some point in spring/summer 2020.

Even if it's true, Nintendo wants this game to come out this year and has tons of money to throw at it. I think we're more likely to get an unfinished first release than a delay into next year, though admittedly that's worse.

Nintendo probably won't allow it to release before October at the earliest, so any delay would basically be a full year's delay.
