Other than its nonsensical role in that movie, there's nothing to it. Chances are they wanted to do something with it that got cut, like the man inside Wela Volcano, the Blastoise firetrucks, and so on

Mew has backstory in the Pokemon Mansion, Celebi has a shrine in Ilex Forest, Jirachi sort of has that rock outside the space center, Manaphy has a quest line in a spinoff while Shaymin has its own area, Victini has its own area. The mythicals in gen 6 get at least a quick bit of exposition when you obtain them + Hoopa has his portals in ORAS. Marshadow and Zeraora don't have any of that.

It's one of the best fighters you can't find, it just one shot ultra necrozma, has a nice movepool, good stats and is super cute. Don't be rude to it, many others Pokémon got a lot more love while having way less reasons to.
