Do you think Pokemon would be better if Atlus got their hands on it? Just think about it, Diamond and Pearl remakes on the Persona 5 engine.

If you kept the people who make the designs and art from GF and handed the actual game development to the people behind the SMT games specifically then yes. They'd probably bring back and improve on aspects from the earlier games (like exploration and dungeons). Difficulty modes and better side content would be in for sure.

The Etrian Odyssey team would probably be a better fit than the Persona team. Honestly, it would do Pokemon as a game a lot of good to have a higher stakes combat like in EO. Revamp PP and make Megas and Z moves have a bigger restriction than just once per battle as you pretty much never encounter the current downsides in normal gameplay.

Unlike Game Freak, Atlus actually makes characters people give a shit about, so the cutscenes would probably be fine

I can agree with that, the optimal solution would be environmental/optional storytelling so that the people that want to read into it can, and those who want 100% gameplay can ignore it

The game would run off the same engine but would use the Pokemon mechanics. Maybe wild battles would have multiple Pokemon like how shadows in Persona 5 have multiple enemies.

No. Game Freak have the right ideas in general, they just need the right people in charge and actual time to make them right.

The only other company who are at all viable would be Nintendo themselves.
