It forces you to slow down(not being able to use your bike in tall grass) and back track(swapping out the bikes). Neither of these things are objectively good elements to have in any route.

I can see a grand total of 1 Mach Bike mudfall and it only provides a shortcut, not a new area. This means that you only need to Acro Bike to access everything it has to offer.

That still sucks because most of the time you have the mach bike because it is faster. So by the time I realize I need the acro, I have to go back and swap it out. The problem is that they completely fucked up the bike system and this made many routes a chore rather than fun. And tall grass is shit that serves no purpose but to slow you down.

My post didn't say you needed both bikes to access every area, just that you are forced to back track because the mach bike is objectively more useful, fast as fuck and lets you go up mud slides, so chances are you have it equipped at that moment instead of the acro. Tall grass sucks and you don't have fly yet. So you have to back track quite a bit for the inferior gimmick bike.

It's big, it lools alive, the terrain has a lot of variety and diversity. It screams exploration and adventure.
You can surf, you czn walk, some paths open or close depending on the bike you have. There even is the hidden regi cave and the feebas hunt.
The music is awesome too.

I think it's the thematics of the route desu. You just beat your dad and received a ticket to the other half of Hoenn. The first route you encounter on the way is a sprawling path through untamed wilderness. It gives a feeling of grand adventure and sprawling landscapes.

Hilariously, it's precisely at this point in the game that Hoenn goes from being wonderfully layered and non-linear in it's world design, to being a monotonous, linear slog. It's a decent route, nothing extraordinary, but has a lot of nostalgia going for it. Hoennbabs are the new Genwunners.

That doesn't mean tall grass is good. Its a shit addition that adds nothing to the gameplay but for you to slow down. The snow route in sinnoh was immersive, it had great music and atmosphere not yet seen in a pokemon, but slogging through deep snow ruined it.

Only the acro bike opens it up to some items and a few hidden bases, which you almost certainly don't have on you because its a gimmick shitbike comparedto the mach and you can't use fly when you first arrive. So you wither sacrifice exploring it initially or you back track to swap out the bikes. Feebas hunt sucked balls, finding the one square with feebas wasn't fun, it was very stupid and extremely tedious with no challenge or skill. Just surf, fish, move one block rinse repeat until shitbas appears.

Thanks captain hindsight! What an obvious fact to point out. The reason is simple. They never intended to make complicated routes so instead they decided to throw in an awful bike system to lengthen the time you spent per route via backtracking.
