-2 whole regions with Kanto & Johto being partially explorable

-20 gym badges

-Improved visuals, animations and general polish, 60fps overworld

-The game engine was made to be as fast and smooth as possible to the point it actually feels good to play without fast forward on emulators

-Great Pokemon distribution, Gen 3 & 4 mons are included and also Sylveon

-Sound & Gas types with decent implementation

-Good remixes & new original tracks

-Has a story but isn't shoved down your throat and you can just mash A like in the older Pokemon games, the dialogues & characters are inoffensive at worst

It's the fact that the rest of the game sans Eusine stayed immensely faithful to the original product, and once you finished up your escapades across the two regions to go engage the League, you FIRST get interrupted by a shitty self-insert before you can actually enter, and THEN when you get in, it's more shitty self-inserts with music from other games, completely throwing you out of the faithfulness loop.

I think the distribution is really great. Overall availability is increased and I believe all johto Pokémon can be found in johto. One thing I love about polished crystal is it’s all laid out clearly on the github. The fact that I can get a houndour soon enough to actually use it during the main quest is awesome
